Long Live the Accelerometer!

It turns out my accelerometer wasn't dead to begin with. The ESP8266 just hates SPI devices. The new accelerometer arrived in the mail, when I hooked it up via SPI it still didn't work. Then I tried both through I2C and they both work! I already ordered a Wemos D1 Mini and checked the SPI wiring with it and it doesn't like it either, and again the I2C method works. I checked again with my Arduino Pro Mini to make sure I wasn't crazy and the SPI method does work with it, just not the ESP8266s.

So now I am left with the same problem again, how do I get both the TCS34725 and the LIS3DH to work wirelessly? I thought of a few things:
  1. Go back to try to get multiple I2C devices working
  2. Get the Wemos to interface with the Arduino Pro Mini to make the arduino wireless.
  3. Use both the Wemos and the Feather so it's two devices sending their data to the computer wirelessly.
Pros and Cons (numbers coincide with above numbers)
  1. Only one device and I could continue as originally planned. IR sensor still only gets 3.3V. Difficult to figure out.
  2. IR can have 5V. I would have to use the logic level shifter for the LIS3DH. Difficult to figure out.
  3. If I put the colour sensor on the Wemos and the rest on the feather than I could also add the Neopixels to the Wemos and not have to worry about the problem with the data printing slow. But omg that's crazy yo and has the risk to bog down the router by adding another device. And go through batteries faster.

    Welcome!

If you are looking for a summary for my Masters thesis, it is here.

This page is where I blog about my progress with my Masters thesis. It is in no way meant to be "official" or in academic lingo. It's meant for me to quickly jot down my ideas before I forget them, even if they may not necessarily make sense to anyone else.
